In the event of hazardous or emergency conditions, the school may be closed or schedules altered to provide delayed openings of school and/or early dismissal of students as appropriate.

To achieve the maximum safety for all children and the efficiency of operations, the Superintendent may order the:

• Cancellation of some or all bus routes 

• Delay of some or all bus routes 

• Closure of school(s) 

• Delay of school start 

• Early dismissal of school

School closure is a serious decision and one that is rarely made. The District will take a variety of factors into consideration.

• Bus Drivers will contact families on their route. 

• KFLN  960 AM radio station will be notified to broadcast information.  Please be aware we have no control over when the media or radio begins posting or announcing our information. 

• Information will be posted on the Plevna School’s Facebook page and District website.

• Alerts and notifications will be sent out by mass text and email through our automated notification system.

Keeping in mind that bad weather and unforeseen emergencies can happen at any time and that disruptions to school schedules require the District to distribute information to a lot of people in a very short amount of time, please seek out information if you have any questions as to what is happening. If it is deemed appropriate to put into effect any of the above-mentioned actions, you should look for a notification through the above resources first before calling the school.

For our School Notification System to work, it is essential that parents keep the school updated on any changes in contact information.  If you have any changes, please let the school of your student know.

As parents, you are the final authority as to whether or not you believe it is safe for your child to get to school. If you believe that it is too cold or the snow is too deep or the weather is too unsettled, your decision may be to keep your child home. You have the right and responsibility to make attendance decisions for your children based on your individual circumstances. Please notify your student’s school as you would for any other absence.
